Application for student Loans: 2011/2012 Financial Year (undergraduates 2nd & Subsequent times only)

+ Pre-requisite: Must have KRA PIN
+ Go to http://www.helb.co.ke
+ Print & fill in the forms
+ Duly filled form to be sent by secure mail by 30th April 2011

Loan application forms for the following, will be available on the HELB website from 1st February 2011:
+ Self sponsored continuing students (employed / salaried)
+ 1st (first) time loan applicants in the government (JAB) & self sponsored programmes in universities within East Africa, public or private recognized by Commission of Higher Education (CHE)
+ Postgraduate students

Subsidized Laptops for University Students through Wezesha Initiative

All university Students are eligible for a KES9600 discount on a laptop through Wezesha Initiative; a programme supported by the government via Kenya ICT Board.

Procedure:
Pre-requisites: -You must be a student from a recognized university and hold a valid university ID.
-Go to http://www.wezesha.co.ke
-Register (student registration)
-Once registration is complete, your university coordinator will approve your registration online and you will receive a notification on your email you provided in the registration
-The notification comes as a voucher worth KES9600 which you will be required to take to the programme partners (Safaricom, Orange, WinComp, FonExpress, PC World, Airtel).
-Print the voucher
-Login (student login), select your preferred laptop (note the provider programme partner) and enter the Voucher Number
-Walk in to the Programme partners’ shop and walk out with your brand new laptop.

**Note: Voucher is valid for 14 days only after approval.

Checking your HELB Loan disbursement status, Higher Education Loans Board

To view your disbursement status, go to: http://www.helb.co.ke/helb_loans_disbursement_form.html

They will require you to do the following:

• Select Serial No. or ID No.
• Enter value for the selected option
• Select the Year
• Get loan/bursary lending report
